A man was taken into custody in Dale City after he threatened to harm fellow passengers on a Greyhound bus, police said.

About 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, Virginia State Police received a call about the male passenger's threatening comments on a bus heading from Richmond to New York.

State police evacuated the passengers and the bus driver in the high-occupancy vehicle lanes of northbound Interstate 95 in Dale City. The passenger who made the threats initially refused to exit the bus, but later police were able to take him into custody.

The bus was searched for suspicious packages but none were found, police said.
