Virginia State Police have obtained an arrest warrant for a Culpeper man responsible for a fatal hit-and-run crash in Fauquier County.
On Dec. 23, a 2004 Scion was traveling on Route 17 near Route 28 when it was rear-ended by a Ford-150 pickup truck. The impact pushed the Scion into a 2010 Honda, and the Scion and the pickup truck ran off the road together.
The Scion's driver, 58-year-old Douglas Rabren, died at the scene. The Scion's passenger was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, and the Honda's driver was not injured.
The pickup truck's driver, 32-year-old Diego Vazquez Mendoza, fled the scene on foot before troopers arrived. Police said that they have obtained a warrant for felony hit-and-run for Mendoza, whose last known place of residence was at the Sleepy Hollow Motel Trailer Park in Culpeper County.
Anyone with information about Mendoza's whereabouts can call police at 540-829-7771.
