WASHINGTON (AP) — Authorities say they're investigating after Georgetown University alerted them to a report of possible ricin in a dormitory.
FBI spokeswoman Jacqueline Maguire says the substance found early Tuesday was initially reported to be ricin.
D.C. police spokesman Officer Araz Alali say initial field tests for biological agents by D.C.'s Fire and EMS Department were negative and students were told they could remain in all campus buildings. He says a subject has been identified and interviews are ongoing.
A university spokeswoman says officials cannot comment on how the substance came to their attention.
Alali says law enforcement now has the substance and further testing is being conducted to confirm if it is ricin.
