Fairfax County police have released a photo of a man who is believed to have assaulted a 17-year-old girl in a library bathroom.

The incident took place on Nov. 6 at Thomas Jefferson Library, located at 7415 Arlington Blvd.

The victim told police that she went into a bathroom as she exited the library in order to dodge a man who she believed was following her. However, the man followed her into the restroom and refused to leave when she ordered him to do so, police officials said.

The man touched and pushed the teenager, and she kicked him and screamed, officials said. He then fled.

The attacker is described as black, between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 160 to 180 pounds, with a medium-brown complexion. He has brown eyes, a gap in his front teeth, a diagonal scar on his forehead and has a clean-shaven head.

He was seen wearing a pale green button-down shirt with khaki pants, and he carried a leather briefcase.

Since the attack, police have canvassed nearby neighborhoods with flyers in both English and Spanish.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or call Fairfax County police at 703-691-2131.
