CATONSVILLE, Md. (AP) — Baltimore County police say an officer attempting to question a driver about a stolen vehicle fired at the man when he fled the scene and nearly struck the officer.
Police say the driver was found later Wednesday lying on the ground near the vehicle in a parking lot at Catonsville High School, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Police say charges are pending against the unidentified driver, who was taken to the Shock Trauma for treatment. The identity of the officer and the driver and the driver's condition were not released.
The officer was on patrol when he spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen and the driver fled when the officer approached. Police say students and staff at the school were never in any danger.
