As part of an application for a government contract, the White House wants to require the company to report all the company's political activity. The administration presents this as a way to increase transparency. It strikes me as a way to further politicize the process of government contracts.
A Hill story today explores that same theme, with the head of the American League of Lobbyists making similar objections to the ones I make.
President Obama will raise a billion dollars this year and get hundreds of millions in support from independent expenditures. The incumbent advantage is already strong enough. Loyalty tests for would-be contractors won't help.
