It’s heading for a fourth consecutive No. 1 spot on the New York Times non-fiction best-seller list, but the mainstream media–including the NYT–is ignoring the anti-Obama book “The Amateur,” by former New York Times Magazine editor Ed Klein.
The publicist for Regnery Publishing charged to Secrets that the media is blackballing the author and book to protect the president. “Klein’s got the hottest book in America and is getting blackballed by the networks and other national news outlets,” said Keith Appell. “This is beyond bias. This is an in-kind contribution to the Obama campaign.”
The conservative press has heralded the book’s contents, such as Rev. Jeremiah Wright saying in taped interviews that the Obama campaign tried to silence him, and Bill Clinton calling Obama an “amateur.”
But the Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and USA Today have ignored the book in their news sections. The Times wrote a critical review, but the four No. 1s proved to be a “healthy rebuke,” said Appell.
What’s more, he added, “not only have there been no print stories in any of the national outlets, Klein has yet to appear on ABC, CNN, CBS or ABC.”
