Since they lived through the 60s, the Washington Post’s Ben Bradlee and Sally Quinn were tapped to liveblog Sunday’s “Mad Men” premiere for the newspaper’s website. The couple didn’t actually do the liveblogging themselves, but had a couple of Post minions capture their quotations as they hosted a small, private fete. “Ben was the hottest twister in his heyday, dancing the twist at the White House — but he never moved on,” Quinn pointed out after Peggy Olson is seen doing the twist during a party scene. “Ben used to use those shaving brushes,” Quinn noted, when Don Draper is seen shaving. “It’s camp. It’s style. That’s it,” Quinn replied when one unidentified party guest called the television show boring. That was also when Bradlee decided to call it a night. “Are you going to stick it out to the end?” the former Post executive editor was asked. “Nope. Good night!” Bradlee said a good 30 minutes before the show’s conclusion.
