Gleeks (fans of the TV show “Glee”) have been hanging on to the edge of their seats since February, when the show ended with a cliffhanger. Popular cheerleader Quinn Fabray, played by actress Dianna Agron, made the very serious mistake of answering a text from behind the wheel, resulting in a car collision with a truck. On Tuesday’s new episode we learned that Agron’s character is alive, but in a wheelchair, and rolling around school warning her fellow students of the perils of texting while driving.
This, clearly, caught the attention of our nation’s leader in the fight against distracted driving Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. “Cell phones and driving don’t mix, and I’m grateful to the cast and producers of ‘Glee’ for helping deliver this important message to young people across America,” LaHood told Yeas & Nays in an email. “Quinn’s story on the show is fictional, but distracted driving has had very real consequences for too many families,” he added.
No word, on whether Agron might partner up with LaHood for future anti-texting while driving initiatives, but she’d join the ranks of celebvocates Jordin Sparks and Andy Pilgrim if she did.
