Americans appear willing to blame both Republicans and Democrats if there is a government shutdown, according to a new Pew Research Poll.

Thirty-nine percent would blame the Republicans and 36 percent would blame President Obama, according to a poll of 1,003 adults. Seventeen percent of those polled volunteered that both parties would be equally to blame.

Pew reports that the results are different than a 1995 Washington Post/ABC News poll that showed 46 percent of Americans would blame Republicans and 27 percent would blame then-President Bill Clinton.

It appears that although Obamacare is unpopular with the general public, Americans are not interested in defunding it as part of this year's budget agreement.

Fifty percent of those polled oppose House Republicans’ proposal to cut off funding for Obamacare as part of any budget agreement, while only 38 percent favor the proposal.
