Predators claim Boychuk off waivers from Penguins

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Nashville Predators have claimed forward Zach Boychuk off waivers from the Pittsburgh Penguins and are placing forward Brandon Yip on injured reserve.

The 23-year-old Boychuk has gone scoreless in eight games with the Penguins and Carolina Hurricanes this season. He has seven goals and 11 assists in 80 career NHL games since 2008-09.

Boychuk is on a two-way contract worth $625,000 at the NHL level and $105,000 at the AHL level. The Carolina Hurricanes selected him with the 14th overall pick in the 2008 NHL entry draft.
