As White House reporters continued to press for a spending cuts plan from President Obama to bring to the table during the fiscal cliff negotiations, Press Secretary Jay Carney pointed to a proposal that was produced over a year ago.

“I’m glad you asked,” Carney said, holding up a paper copy of the ‘The President’s Plan for Economic Growth and Deficit Reduction,’ produced by the White House Budget Office.

The proposal was produced for the president in September 2011, calling for higher taxes on people making more than $1 million and letting the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy expire.

Carney reminded reporters that the proposal was available to “everyone in the world that has an internet connection.”

“I know that things are done the old fashioned way sometimes on Capitol Hill, but I believe that they have electricity and an internet connection and they can get this,” Carney added sarcastically.

Carney insisted that the president would not sign any deal that extended the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy.

“There can be no deal without rates on top earners going up,” Carney said. “This should not be news to anyone who was not in a coma during campaign season,”
