Prince George's County Executive Rushern Baker is backing the ballot measure that would legalize gay marriage in Maryland, he announced Friday.

Baker joins numerous other elected officials from Montgomery and Prince George's counties backing the measure, Question 6, including Gov. Martin O'Malley, U.S. Rep. Donna Edwards, D-Md., and Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett. Comptroller Peter Franchot and numerous state senators and lawmakers also have expressed their support for the measure.

Nearly 51 percent of Maryland voters plan to support the measure, 43 percent to oppose, and 6 percent are undecided, according to poll by Gonzales Research & Marketing Strategies last month.
