A Forestville man shot was arrested Monday after police said he shot at officers trying to serve a search warrant at his home early Monday.

Jeremiah Ronald Pearson, 25, was charged with multiple counts of attempted murder.

Prince George's County police said the officers used a ram to open a heavy steel door at a resident in the 3300 block of Walters Lane. Officers announced themselves, and just before the officers got inside, the suspect fired on them, police said. The bullet struck the heavy steel door and lodged there, preventing the officers from being struck, police said.

Detectives believe that after the first shot was fired, the suspect's gun jammed. He then ran to a back bedroom and threw the weapon out of the window.
