A 28-year-old Oxon Hill woman was arrested for fatally stabbing her mother's boyfriend, police said.

Kimberly Elaine Smith was arrested on charges of second-degree murder in the death of 51 year-old Charles Blyther Jr.

Late Thursday night, Blyther and Smith's mother got into an argument inside Smith's home in the 1100 block of Kennebec Street. Smith then grabbed a knife and stabbed Blyther in the chest, police said.

Blyther, of Northeast D.C., was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Smith was taken into custody at the scene of the incident and admitted to her involvement in the killing. Police have recovered the knife.
