LYNDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Plans for a sand and gravel mine in Washtenaw County that have drawn opposition from some residents are on the agenda for a meeting next month.
The Ann Arbor News and The Detroit News report that May 19 is the next public planning commission meeting in Lyndon Township with a special land use request for the project on the agenda.
There's no scheduled vote date yet for the permit.
McCoig Materials Inc. wants to operate the mine near Chelsea, about 45 miles west of Detroit, The Ann. The plans need approval from the township planning commission and others. Some area residents say it will change their rural community and increase truck traffic.
A representative of the company has said that it's taking input from the public and planning commission seriously.
