SUSSEX, Wis. (AP) — Printing industry leader Quad/Graphics plans to close a plant in Iowa and another in California this year.
Quad/Graphics spokeswoman Claire Ho said Thursday a total of about 200 employees will lose their jobs when the Sussex-based company closes a plant in Marengo, Iowa by March and another in Pomona, Calif., by June.
Ho says other workforce adjustments are being made elsewhere in the company, but declined to specify the number of jobs involved at its nearly 60 plants in 28 states. She says any layoffs in Wisconsin do not meet the threshold for notifying the state under Wisconsin law. Companies employing 50 or more have to give 60 days notice to the state before a large-scale layoff or closure.
Ho says the plant closures are the result of integrating Vertis Holdings, Inc., which Quad/Graphics acquired last year.
