FRONT ROYAL, Va. (AP) — The U.S. Mint is issuing a quarter honoring Shenandoah National Park this week.
The launch ceremony is set for 10 a.m. Friday at Skyline High School in Front Royal. U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine and Virginia Secretary of Natural Resources Molly Ward are expected to attend.
A coin forum is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Rappahannock County Library in Washington. The U.S. Mint says the forum is an opportunity for the public to comment on future coinage and to learn about upcoming coin programs and initiatives.
The Shenandoah National Park quarter is part of the American the Beautiful Quarters Program. Fifty-six national parks and other national sites are being honored with quarters issued in the order in which they were established as national sites. Five quarters are issued annually.
