Ralph Nader's fan base is getting older, but it can still pack a bookstore. Thursday, the five-time presidential candidate read excerpts from his new book, "Told You So: The Big Book of Weekly Columns," at Politics & Prose Bookstore for a wonky, standing-room-only crowd that laughed at his politically pointed jokes about E. coli and AARP.

"This has a provocative title: It's called 'I told you so,' " he acknowledged. "But I did wait 42 years to write it."

Nader, who supports District statehood, also had ideas to invigorate the effort by recruiting three District residents per member of Congress to get in their faces every time they dine out in the area.
