In an interview with ABC’s Jonathan Karl, Sen. Rand Paul R-Ky. defended his father’s legacy as he prepares to leave the House.

Karl suggested that the elder Paul, was “not a compromising guy” and “didn’t have an impact on the Republican party,” as he never made it to any leadership circles.

“Whoa now, I wouldn’t go that far,” Paul responded.

“There’s different ways to influence things,” Paul said, adding that because of his father, more young people, constitutionalists and libertarians have joined the Republican party, helping it grow.

“There’s a sea of change on the Republican side, and I think my Dad has something to do with that,” Paul concluded.

When asked about running for President in 2016, Paul admitted that he was “interested.”
