On Fox News this morning, Sen. Rand Paul R-Ky. explained that he voted for Chuck Hagel yesterday because it was no longer viable to block his nomination to get more information.

“I think that when Republicans stick together we can get more information,” Paul said adding the he was “disappointed” that several of his fellow Republicans decided to end their filibuster of Hagel shortly after they voted against him.

Paul added that as a libertarian he was wasn’t “excited” about Hagel since he voted for the Iraq war and the Patriot Act and was in favor of a national draft.

“I do think though that he is open to the fact that we will have to save money in the military and I am open that also,” Paul concluded.
