On The Mike Huckabee Show Thursday, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky. explained that he was comfortable with different views in the Republican party – even the views of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

“I think that the Republican party is big enough for the both of us,” Paul said. “It’s big enough for people with a lot of different views.”

Paul reminded the guest host, WMAL’s Brian Wilson, that he had offered to have a beer with Christie after the two Republicans clashed over national security policy.

Paul argued that Republicans, however, should promote the Fourth Amendment as well as the Second Amendment, even though some of the party’s “old guard” were uncomfortable with the idea. Young people, Paul added, were particularly concerned with internet, email, and cellphone privacy.

“I think there is room for people who have more of a libertarian twist,” Paul said. “We’ll see.”
