Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky. explained on the Mark Levin show that the Republican party was about maintaining freedom and opportunity in the country, not just giving poor people tangible goods.
“We’re not the party that wants to give you another cellphone,” Paul said. “We’re the party that wants to give you the opportunity to enter the middle class in a meaningful way with a meaningful job.”
Paul said that school choice was among the top issues that would help grow the Republican party, which would offer inner-city children a way out of poverty.
Democrats, Paul said, were more concerned with maintaining the current educational system.
“This is the big discovery, the Democrats want the status quo, they don’t care, you know, what happens to kids in the inner city, I truly believe that,” he said.
