TORONTO (AP) — Toronto Raptors forward Andrea Bargnani is expected to miss the rest of the season with an elbow injury.

Bargnani sprained his right elbow in the first quarter of Toronto's 118-116 road loss to the Los Angeles Lakers last Friday night and did not return.

The Raptors said the injury is not related to Bargnani's previous right elbow ailment that forced the 27-year-old Italian to miss 26 games between Dec. 12 and Feb. 3.

Before this injury, Bargnani had appeared in 14 of 15 games, including four straight starts.

The 7-foot, 256-pound Bargnani did not travel with the team to Boston, where the Raptors are scheduled to face the Celtics on Wednesday night.
