STORYLINE

Israel continued to fire rockets across the Gaza Strip on Saturday morning, as the Palestinian death toll topped 120.

A large explosion caused by an Israeli airstrike on Saturday morning created chaos on the streets of Khan Younis, in the Southern Gaza Strip.

Dozens of locals were running away from the damaged site, which was quickly surrounded by smoke. A rocket also hit the house of Hamas militant leader Yehiya al-Sinwar from the group's military wing Al Qassam Brigades. There were no casualties in the attack, according to health officials in Gaza.

In Nuseirat, an airstrike damaged the al-Farouq Mosque early on Saturday but did not cause any casualties.

Israel accuses Hamas, Islamic Jihad and other Gaza militant groups of using religious sites to conceal weapons and establish underground tunnel networks, deliberately endangering its own civilians.

Gaza militants have fired nearly 700 rockets and mortars toward Israel in five days of fighting. More than 920 wounded have been wounded, according to a spokesperson at the Gaza Health Ministry.

Israel's military said the airstrikes have taken out Hamas' command centers, rocket launchers and storage sites. Israel launched its campaign five days ago to stop relentless rocket fire on its citizens.
