However, turf in Dallas could be problematic

ASHBURN -- Receiver Pierre Garcon didn't have much impact on Sunday's win over Philadelphia, but the fact that he lasted all game was a start. What it will lead to, however, remains to be seen.

Garcon caught just three passes for 5 yards in limited duty vs. the Eagles, his first game since Oct. 7. Garcon, suffering from a plantar plate injury on his right foot, said he suffered no setbacks.

"I can't say I was close to where I want to be," Garcon said. "But I just have to keep pushing."

Coach Mike Shanahan said he was pleased with how Garcon ran his routes, especially compared to when he first returned earlier this season. But Shanahan said he's not sure how Garcon's foot will respond to the field turf in Dallas on Thursday. The Redskins will work him out before the game to see whether he can play.

Shanahan said there were times Garcon was open but did not get the ball Sunday.

"You could see him separate and do things that give you a chance to win," he said. "The big question is can he do it on the turf where it's a little harder and tougher to run on for a guy like him going through the type of pain he's dealing with."

Note » Redskins end Stephen Bowen was used to dealing with a short work week during his five seasons with Dallas. He said a key is getting enough rest, soaking in the cold tub or stretching to help the body recover quicker.

"It was just normal," he said of going through it in Dallas. "You can't really go as hard as you want to [in practice]. You've got to make sure you're still fresh for the game."
