Impact player

The Redskins held Giants receiver Victor Cruz to 54?yards before his 77-yard game-winning touchdown catch. Washington's defense has given up big plays all year, and the playmaker came through when New York needed him most.

Under the radar

With Fred Davis out with a torn Achilles tendon, Logan Paulsen filled in nicely at tight end. He had a team-high 76 receiving yards, including a 19-yard catch on a fourth-and-10 that kept the Redskins' last touchdown drive alive.

Did you notice ...

How successful the Redskins were on third down in the first three quarters? Washington entered converting only 28 percent of its third downs. On Sunday, Robert Griffin III got in more manageable situations and converted six of the Redskins' first nine.

From the sidelines

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan went for it three times on fourth down, converting every attempt. Each play call put it in Griffin's hands, with two having the rookie get to the outside. He completed two passes and scrambled on the other.

Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride continued to call pass plays despite having the lead late in the fourth quarter. Eli Manning threw an interception on one drive and had an incomplete third-and-1 pass on the next.
