President Obama is going to Israel later this month — no matter what.

The White House put to rest Friday any suggestions that the president would not visit the country, even if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were unable to put together a governing coalition.

“We’re going,” White House Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest insisted.

Netanyahu has until March 16 to form a government. President Obama is slated to land in Israel on March 20 as part of a Middle East trip that includes stops in the West Bank and Jordan.

Earnest said the president would not outline a specific peace plan for Israel and Palestine on the trip but does think it’s in the “interest of both parties.”
