It’s indefensible. In Chicago, you can’t operate a food truck within 200 feet of a restaurant, a 7-Eleven, or any store that sells food. The only purpose of such a law is to protect established businesses from competition — which is the main purpose of many regulations. The Institute for Justice made a video about this law, riffing off of HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” See that video above, or here.
