NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Carnival Conquest has left New Orleans for extensive renovations, and will be back Oct. 28.

Carnival Cruise Lines says new restaurants, bars and entertainment features will include a hamburger restaurant developed with Food Network celebrity restaurateur Guy Fieri.

The Times-Picayune reports (http://bit.ly/RNCiB6) that the changes are part of a $500 million upgrade to the 24-ship Carnival fleet.

In November 2013, the Conquest will be replaced by the Carnival Sunshine — which is getting even more extensive renovations, including expansions that will boost the number of passengers above the total that the Conquest can carry. The Sunshine is currently named the Destiny, but will be renamed before coming to New Orleans.

Carnival officials said Friday that the Conquest's new home port will be Miami, now served by the Destiny.
