Rep. Trey Gowdy traveled the mid-Atlantic region the past three months campaigning for fellow Republican members of Congress, a sign that the leader of the House investigation into the Benghazi terrorist attacks has become a popular political draw. According to his office, the South Carolina lawmaker campaigned with seven members of Congress since April at events in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Maryland. Gowdy, in an interview Wednesday on Capitol Hill, said he started getting more speaking requests from fellow Republicans about nine months ago, well before the Benghazi committee was created in May.
