House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul said on Sunday that all evidence surrounding the mysterious disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 points towards the pilot or copilot.

“Something was going on with the pilot,” the Texas Republican said on “Fox News Sunday.” “I think this all leads towards the cockpit, with the pilot and copilot.”

Malaysia Prime Minister Najib Razak announced on Saturday that someone on board the aircraft had shut off communications with the ground and continued flying for an additional six hours. Investigators have since turned their focus to the pilots and crew on the jetliner.

McCaul said there was no reason, at least at this point, to believe that the incident was related to terrorism.

Still, the Texan added that “you can’t rule that out.”

Investigators say the jetliner heading to Beijing could have gone as far as the southern Indian Ocean or even Kazakhstan.

“The jury is still very much out on this strange, mystery tragedy,” McCaul said.
