Mississippi Senate challenger Chris McDaniel offered his thoughts on reparations for slavery and immigration in a radio clip that resurfaced Thursday.

The clip is from 2006 or 2007, according to the Wall Street Journal. (Note: Mother Jones posted the audio in January, citing a local blog called Dark Horse Mississippi.)

McDaniel discussed how he'd handle a hypothetical tax increase to pay reparations to the descendants of slaves. "If they pass reparations, and my taxes go up," McDaniel said, "I ain't paying taxes."

He also shared views on illegal immigration to the United States, saying the "millions of illegals pouring across the border" seeking citizenship will "want theirs."

A spokesman for McDaniel told the Journal that "the liberal press clearly loves to attack conservatives" and that McDaniel will "continue to deliver his conservative message."

McDaniel is challenging longtime Republican Senator Thad Cochran.
