Paris Bennett is the second player to leave the George Mason basketball team this month with eligibility remaining. Bennett, a redshirt junior, who will graduate in May, plans to pursue other playing opportunities next year the school announced. Bennett joins another redshirt junior, who is on track to graduate, guard Vertrail Vaughns. Earlier this month, coach Paul Hewitt announced that Vaughns plans to play elsewhere next year.

Bennett, a 6-foot-6 forward has been in and out of the rotation throughout his career, playing in 76 games, averaging 1.7 points and 1.5 rebounds per appearance. He averaged 2.7 points and 1.9 rebounds this year, both career highs.

“I would like to thank Paris for his dedication and hard work over the last few years,” Hewitt said in a statement. “We wish him well moving forward.”

Neither player will be greatly missed as George Mason is due to return 10 rotation players from last season. The Patriots went 22-16 in reaching the College Basketball Invitational finals.
