PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — With one to two inches of snow forecast to hit Rhode Island, state emergency officials are reminding Christmas travelers to drive carefully.

The Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency says motorists should be prepared with an emergency kit that includes blankets, a bag of sand and extra gloves and hats.

They should make sure they have a windshield scraper, that their tires are in good shape and that they have at least half a tank of gas in the car.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory warning of light snow and ice late Monday into early Tuesday through much of Rhode Island.
