Hollywood heartthrob Richard Gere graced Capitol Hill with his presence Tuesday and had nice things to say about the U S of A, according to a report from CNS News. "We are kind and gentle troublemakers," Gere said, complimenting the United States for sheltering Chinese human rights activist Chen Guangcheng, winner of Tuesday's Tom Lantos Human Rights Prize. "I'm very proud of our country, that we do speak out when we do," Gere said. "It's something extraordinary on this planet," the actor added. Chen was given the award after being put in prison and on house arrest for seven years for speaking out against China's one-child policy. Gere serves on the advisory board of the Lantos Foundation.
