WASHINGTON (AP) — Transportation officials are preparing to deploy road crews for the latest winter storm to move through the Mid-Atlantic region.
Forecasters say the storm is expected to bring rain, sleet and snow Sunday night into Monday. Snow accumulations could range from 3 to 10 inches.
The District of Columbia plans to deploy 200 plows by 8 p.m. Sunday to treat roads.
In Maryland, county and state road crews are also being deployed Sunday evening. The Maryland State Highway Administration also is positioning heavy-duty tow trucks near interstates to respond to truck crashes.
The Virginia Department of Transportation is warning travelers to avoid or limit travel. The agency says VDOT crews will be treating and clearing roads as necessary.
