NEW CITY, N.Y. (AP) — Rockland County wants its residents to stay off its roads because of high winds and heavy rains related to Hurricane Sandy.

Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef issued an order restricting all non-essential vehicles between the hours of 6 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Vanderhoef says it's critical that all roads are clear for emergency personnel to respond to hurricane-related emergencies.
