A 40-year-old man from Rockville was killed in a weekend skiing accident in western Maryland, authorities said.

The Garrett County Sheriff's Office said James Jung-Jin Park lost control and ran into a tree while skiing with friends Saturday at the Wisp Ski Resort, the Associated Press reports. The sheriff's office says the accident occurred on a ski-run known as the Squirrel Cage.

The resort is located in McHenry, near the border of West Virginia and Pennsylvania. The resort announced in December that it had emerged from bankruptcy protection under a new management firm.
