Romney channels Friday Night Lights: ‘Clear eyes, Full hearts, Can’t lose’

Mitt Romney today told the story of David Oparowski, a young boy that he knew who died of cancer.

“I thought as I saw some years later a phrase that seemed to capture my memory of David Oparowski,” Romney said. “Clear eyes, full heart, can’t lose.”

“This is something that we share in this country,” Romney added. “Men and women of clear eyes, full hearts, and America can’t lose.”

That line is from Friday Night Lights, and the Romney family appears to have borrowed it for the campaign. (see the picture above)

It’s worth noting that Buzz Bissinger, the author of the book Friday Night Lights recently wrote a column about why he decided to vote for Mitt Romney, even though he supported President Obama in 2008.
