Mitt Romney's campaign is going overboard to prepare their candidate for the upcoming presidential debates because top advisors believe they will provide a "breakpoint" in the election just as it did for Ronald Reagan in 1980.

"People are holding back until the debates," said a Romney advisor. "Because of that the debates become a breakpoint for us."

In 1980, Reagan was trailing Carter in the polls 39 percent to 47 percent until their debate when the Gipper showed in his performance that he was up for being president and could be trusted with the keys to the nation. It was at that debate where he aired two of his most famous lines: "There you go again," and "Are you better off than you were four years ago?"

To echo Reagan's success, the Romney campaign has put a special focus on debate prep for Romney. "We will be extremely prepared for the debates," said the advisor.
