Ryan to Biden, during debate: ‘I know you’re under a lot of duress to make up lost ground’

Vice President Joe Biden decided that interrupting Paul Ryan during the vice presidential debate made for a good debate tactic; Ryan chalked the decision up to desperation in the Obama campaign caused by President Obama’s poor debate performance last week.

“Mr. Vice President, I know you’re under a lot of duress to make up lost ground, but I think people will be better served if we don’t keep interrupting each other,” Ryan told Biden this evening.

Ryan’s rebuke came as the two candidates were discussing the cuts to Medicare — and Medicare Advantage in particular — contained in Obamacare. Biden denied that such cuts were made.

The Washington Post explained in August that “Romney’s right: Obamacare cuts Medicare by $716 billion, “noting that the cut to Medicare Advantage “accounts for about a third of the Affordable Care Act’s [Medicare] spending reduction.”
