SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — A promoter is canceling a winter promotion intended to boost Santa Fe's economy by attracting offseason tourists with beer tastings and discounted skiing.

The "Ski 'N Brew" promotion was to be held in late January or February, with organizers receiving $25,000 on lodgers tax fund approved by the city.

But Heath Concerts promoter Jamie Lenfestey told the New Mexican (http://bit.ly/10ZwgFy) he underestimated what it would take to launch the event.

Lenefsky says he's told city officials of the cancellation. He says he plans to regroup and try again in 2014.

Mayor David Coss says he agrees with the decision, saying it's better for the promoters to give themselves more time to organize a successful event.
