SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — For the first time in 15 years, the Savannah Film Festival is planning to screen movies in 3-D.

The Savannah College of Art and Design, which sponsors the festival, made the announcement Wednesday. Campus officials say the 3-D technologies company RealD Inc. will provide the 3-D lens and glasses for this year's festival, which begins next month. The school will also get to keep the gear, meaning its film students will get to shoot and screen projects in 3-D.

Danny Filson, the film festival's executive director, says the partnership with RealD will make the Savannah college one of the few nationwide to teach 3-D filmmaking. What he's not discussing yet is which 3-D films will be screening at the festival.

The Savannah Film Festival runs Oct. 27 through Nov. 3.
