COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics is ready to start considering a new crop of students.

Applications for the residential school in Hartsville are now being accepted from current high school sophomores. The application period is open through Feb. 15.

The two-year public school specializes in science, technology, engineering and math coursework, with an emphasis on economics and entrepreneurship. It also offers internship and research programs that give students other opportunities to learn.

The school can serve as many as 300 high school juniors and seniors annually from across the state.
