NEW YORK (AP) — Curt Schilling's bloody sock from the 2004 World Series is set to be sold off — a casualty of the collapse of the former Boston Red Sox pitcher's video game company.

Heritage Auctions expects the sock will fetch at least $100,000 — though probably much more — at an auction Saturday night in New York City.

The sock had been on loan to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, but Schilling is selling it to cover millions in loans to his defunct startup.

38 Studios was lured to Rhode Island from Massachusetts with a separate $75 million loan guarantee. It later filed for bankruptcy.

Rhode Island is facing a tab of some $100 million related to the deal. The state's economic development agency is suing Schilling, claiming it was misled.
