D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray told the Washington Post that he wants more patrol officers in the wake of a Christmas Eve killing of a new Capitol Hill resident.

District police on Thursday continued to search for two men who were last seen leaving the area of the fatal shooting on the 1200 block of C Street NE.

That is where officers discovered 28-year-old Jason Anthony Emma sitting behind the wheel of a black Audi at about 2:15 a.m. Monday. Emma had just moved to the area and had been shot several times, police said.

The two men seen leaving the area of the shooting were described as black males with heavy builds between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall. One of the men was wearing a white T-shirt with dark sleeves.

Last week, the D.C. Council voted down Gray's plan to hire 100 new officers.
