Sears Considering The Move To Washington D.C.

According to a report, Sears Holding Corp (NASDAQ:SHLD) is looking into moving its headquarters to Washington D.C. The search for a potential sight began earlier this month according to the Washington Post.Sears disclosed in May it was considering a headquarter move. Some states that Sears is considering are New Jersey, Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and Georgia.At its present headquarters, Hoffman Estates, Sears includes 2.4 million square feet of office space spread across a number of buildings. Sears owns the property which is part of a larger business park. The larger park is Prairie Stone, employing about 6,000 in the entire business park.Sears is currently located in Chicago and has been since 1887. It is just one of the number of companies looking to move out of Illinois, along with CME Group Inc. (NASDAQ:CME), and Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT).
