A security guard was shot at a grocery store in Laurel, police said.

The incident happened at about 8 p.m. Thursday at the Bottom Dollar Food store located in the 12600 Laurel-Bowie Road. Two masked men entered the store, approached the security guard, took his firearm, shot him and fled, police spokeswoman Cpl. Maria McKinney said.

The guard was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are investigating to determine whether the guard was shot with his own gun.
