Can six-term Sen. Thad Cochran and 22-term Rep. Charles Rangel, two "old bulls" of Congress, survive amid political and demographic changes? Voters in Mississippi and a congressional district in upper Manhattan and the Bronx, respectively, are deciding the fate of the two political veterans as they go to the polls Tuesday. There is also a special election for Congress in Florida, primaries for governor in Maryland and Colorado, and a GOP primary for the U.S. Senate in Oklahoma that is expected to go to a runoff. But the marquee races involve Cochran, a Republican being challenged by Tea Party-backed Chris McDaniel, and Rangel, a Democrat trying to fend off Adriano Espaillat in a rematch of their bitter 2012 race.
